Homework Week 9/1 - Uniform or Mufti

Many schools throughout NZ and the world have uniforms which are compulsory for all students to wear who attend the school.

Many people believe that uniforms are a schools identity and a way to make everyone equal. Others believe uniforms stop students expressing their individuality and are more hassle than they are worth.

What is your opinion? Should it be compulsory for MIS students to wear a school uniform?

I think uniforms should be compulsory because then parents can decide whats best rather than having only one choice.

  2. In some schools you have to wear uniform. In others you can wear mufti. Uniform is so that it is not a fashion thing. I think mufti is better because it does not cost so much like uniform.

  3. I think that we should keep our school uniform, because if we earn badges we can't sew them on to our everyday clothes as we will not want holes in them,so if we wear uniforms they can be sewn on to them.I think that uniform is better because most kids don't have to spend an hour deciding what to wear in the morning's.So I think we should stick with the uniforms and then everybody is the same and also makes the school look better.

  4. I reckon we shouldnt have school uniforms because our parents pay hundreds of dollars on clothes we are only going to wear a few years and we would feel more comftable in our own clothes.

  5. I think we shouldn't have to wear school uniform because it cost a lot of money. Uniform is good because it makes everyone equal and you can sew on your badges but mufti makes you feel like yourself and it's more comfy.

  6. I think kids that go to school should be able to wear what ever they want beacause if you have uniforms your the same as every one else. but if you have mufty it shows your personallity.

I think we should'nt have a uniform and just wear mufti because it would save buing uniforms and all that stuff. So thats why I vote for Mufti!!!!!!

  8. I think uniforms are better. I think this is better because it would be harder for kids to wag school and you don't have to spend time deciding what to wear.

  9. I think uniforms should not be compulsory because we only wear this uniform for two years. It’s just a waste of money. Although if we do wear uniform we don’t have to go searching through half of our draw trying to find what to wear each day. But I would still wear mufti.

  10. Uniforms are unnecessary and costly. Our parents spend enough money on our schooling, they don't need to dish out more for uniforms. Us kids feel more at home and comfortable in mufti.

  13. It has been interesting to read through all your points of view. I had the same opinion as most of you at your age. Now a little older, and having to pay my own way I see things differently. I understand that uniforms are expensive and can be a big outlay in one chunk, however, mufti would require reguluarly purchasing new clothes and we all know we like the "label" clothes (which are generally more expensive than uniforms). I do however, agree that uniforms give you a personality and you like to be unique but what if you were the kid without the kewl clothes? Overall, I believe that uniforms are a great way to keep everyone equal, save you time on deciding what to wear and save money in the long run.
