Homework Week 9/4 - Cut Them or Grow Them

Every year thousands and thousands of trees are cut down in NZ to provide local businesses with timber for furniture, buildings and housing, as well as exporting the timber all over the world.

Driving to places like Taupo and Rotorua, have roads where the hills are covered in left over logs which were unwanted by the foresters, and hills with new beginnings of trees, planted to replace those which have been cut and too, will be cut in the future.

Should we be cutting down so many trees in NZ? What is your opinion?

Homework Week 9/3 - Cat or Dog

They are the age old pets which everyone loves and can be found in almost every home throughout NZ. They are fluffy and cute, cuddly and friendly, and are a ball of fun for all ages. They are your favourite pets, the cat and dog.

Which would you prefer to have as your ideal pet? Explain why you think a cat would make a better pet than a cat or vice versa. Can you convince me to trade in my cats for a dog? (Maybe I will have to have both! )

Homework Week 9/2 - Graffiti - Art or Vandalism

Graffiti can be found on many park benches, skateboard parks and alley ways. It is an inconvenience for the council or property owners to have to constantly clean or paint over the areas which have graffiti, often on a regular basis.

Some graffiti is more than just tagging names, gangs or symbols, it can be a detailed picture or logo, with a mixture of colours and messages with cool effects.

How do you view graffiti? Does it depend on the location or the material? What is your opinion? Art or Vandalism…

Homework Week 9/1 - Uniform or Mufti

Many schools throughout NZ and the world have uniforms which are compulsory for all students to wear who attend the school.

Many people believe that uniforms are a schools identity and a way to make everyone equal. Others believe uniforms stop students expressing their individuality and are more hassle than they are worth.

What is your opinion? Should it be compulsory for MIS students to wear a school uniform?

Homework Opinions

As part of Room 8's homework for week 8, we had to read Room 9's blog and comment on their homework opinions.

After reading and commenting on Room 9's opinion's, Room 8 would like to create their own opinions for week 9.

What opinions do you have which you think could be a good discussion point for Room 8?

I look forward to reading what you all think :)

Swimming Sports

On, Monday the 8th of March, most MIS students went down to the Morrisville rec pools For our annual swimming sports.
We had loads of fun and everyone had a great day.

The final score for the McCloud cup was

ARANUI: 385

Even though Tainui won Aotea was still number 1!!!

This day could not be possible without our wonderful teachers, parents but most of all we could never have done it without our swimmers!!!!!!!!!
