Homework Week 9/4 - Cut Them or Grow Them

Every year thousands and thousands of trees are cut down in NZ to provide local businesses with timber for furniture, buildings and housing, as well as exporting the timber all over the world.

Driving to places like Taupo and Rotorua, have roads where the hills are covered in left over logs which were unwanted by the foresters, and hills with new beginnings of trees, planted to replace those which have been cut and too, will be cut in the future.

Should we be cutting down so many trees in NZ? What is your opinion?

I think we should still keep cutting tree`s down but not as much. I think we should keep cutting tree`s down because everybody needs wood and the tree`s can grow back it just takes a while for them to grow so don`t cut tree`s down much, unless you have to.

  2. Cut them or grow them:
I think it’s good what they are doing at the moment, because when they cut a tree down, they plant another in its place.

  4. I feel it is o.k to cut down trees that have been grown specifically for paper because they then replant them straight away. Pine trees grow quickly but our native trees don't so we shouldn't cut down the native trees as they are only found in New Zealand. By cutting down native tres you destrot homes for native birds and shelter for other animals. I also think that they shouldn't clear forests for farm land because farm land produces pollution, and our forests don't.

  5. I think we should stop cutting down our forests because they are cutting down the homes of so many harmless animals. If they keep on cutting them down the forests might slowly disappear in a matter of years.
